Students and
teachers who wish to receive credit for
AmeriSpan Language programs have three
options:
-
Pre-approval
at your college or university
Many times you can obtain credit for participation in an AmeriSpan program from your local university. This usually involves meeting with faculty from your Study Abroad or Foreign Language department. Sometimes your faculty will request a course syllabus or other information. Just let us know what information you need and we will be happy to assist you. Many of AmeriSpan's partner schools have agreements with colleges and universities, whereby participants can earn academic credit for their language study.
-
Credit
through Brookhaven College

Credit
through Seattle Central
Community College
At all AmeriSpan partner
schools, you may earn 5 quarterly credits (3.3 semester credits) for 101, 102 or 103 levels of Spanish, French, German, Italian and Japanese. This option does not require a minimum amount of study time. Rather, students have 11 weeks to pass a proctored examination at an approved site before their expiration date. An example of an approved site might be a library at a local university. In addition, students must sign a Contract of Commitment prior to taking the exam agreeing to accept the grade for the level of Spanish for which they are testing. The cost for each course is
$300. Those interested can sign up AFTER the completion of an AmeriSpan Immersion program. We recommend that you check with the academic institution that you are attending to insure that credits transfer smoothly. Students should plan to enroll in an AmeriSpan program for a minimum of 3 weeks to insure a good exam grade. For more information contact:
